Here it is, my first attempt at a NE bowl. It is mesquite, finished with Watco oil and 2 coats of satin Deft. The wall thickness is pretty consistent top to bottom.
Any suggestions for improvement?

Thanks for your input.

Great looking HF. Nice form and finish on it. Love turning mesquite.

Looking good, great job with the bark. I would only say that you need a more continuous curve towards the bottom. I would say the bottom is too big.

Rich - you did pretty good for your first NE! Beautiful wood - great job on keeping all that bark! You did pick a fairly hard form to turn. Usually when turning real steep sided bowls, folks have all sorts of problems with tear out in the transition area where the shoulder meets the bottom. Looks like you didn't have any problems - nice work!

Suggest would be to try a NE with more of a curve to the walls. More along the lines of what Alex suggests. You did good on this one! Looking forward to seeing your next NE!
