I've been turning a few potpourri bowls and finished two today along with a vase that I sorta copied from somewhere...I don't even remember where I saw the one I got the idea from.

The potpourri bowls are Redbud, 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" and Bois d' Arc, 3 1/2" x 4 3/4". Both finished with Minwax Wipe-On Poly.

The vase is Bois d' arc with a Walnut collar, 7" x 4 5/8", Deft finish.

The bowls are very nice, they have a pleasing shape. Don't be showing the bowls around, somebody will want to trade greenbacks for them!!

I really like the metal thingys, they add another dimension. I have used a couple of the cast ones. Don't try to straighten them, they will break.

Nice work Cody! How did you do the carving on the body of the vase?

Thanks for the comments, y'all.

Dewey, I'm not sure where I saw that type vase but it stuck in my head and I decided to replicate it as I remembered it. If it is a Wally Dickerman design, then thanks Wally for the inspiration.

Richard, I left the vase mounted in the lathe chuck and swiveled the head stock 90 degrees so that it was outboard. I had divided the vase into five equal sections with a pencil line and used my carving gouges to carve the grooves along the line. Let me tell you that carving Bois d' Arc end grain is not a sublime experience. :D

Thanks again for the kind comments.
