Folks,

Somebody stopped by the house a number of months back. They noticed some spheres with tenons that I am turning to construct some table legs. He asked me, "are you turning bowling balls?" So I have to wonder, has anybody actually turned their own bowling balls?

I think they are made out of some sort of MDF these days, but I thought it was a fun question to ask.

PS - And no, I don't plan on doing so (at least not for use at a public lane), except maybe for bowling for trash cans ;-).

I never have but it could be done. It wouldn't roll the same as a real bowling ball. Real bowling balls have a certain weight distribution to make it roll a certain way.
