Anyone here use the Woodcraft 8" Bench Grinder, either the slo-speed model or the two speed. They are very attractive price wise, but I don't know anyone who has one.
I would be using it for doing the initial work of sharpening chisels and plane irons., no lathe tools. I usually use either waterstones or my Makita flat stone wet grinder for the final steps.

Bill,
The Woodcraft 8" slowspeed grinder is quite popular among beginning turners.

I got the slow-speed one for like $75 I think. Just wait, they will go on sale. Mine is still in the box, uh, acclimating, yeah, acclimating to the shop.... ;)

+1 - wait for the sale; sometimes they're around $50

I own the 8" Woodcraft slow speed grinder and it meets all my needs. (Per Ken's description, I am a beginning woodturner.) It even comes with the white wheels that are great for slow speed sharpening. I also have several friends who own this grinder and they are very happy with it.

I have had the slow grinder for about four years now with no problems.
I give it a pretty good workout. I use it for my Beall Buff System.
