One of my other hobbies is High Powered Rockets.
A fellow rocketeer I meet many years ago, launched and recovered the largest model rocket to date. His name is Steve Eves. I tip my hat to a job well done.
Below is link to a video of his launch.

Thought some of you wood get a kick out of his successful project.

That was way cool.

I wonder how much that cost !

The cost is way more than my disposible income.
IIRC the the motors alone were more than $10K.
I believe he had sponsors and was accepting donations also.
ASWAG at total costs would be over $25K.
You can do a search online and find out more I am sure.
I was heavily involved in the ill-fated Mercury-Redstone in the link here: http://www.rocketryplanet.com/content/view/318/38/1/4/

very cool I always liked flying rockets but back then I had to get a license and it made it far harder.

Awesome video Mark. I was shocked to see the photogs standing so close…stuff happens.

Here’s a couple of pics from my day job.

I have to agree Bruce. We only allowed unmanned, tripod mounted, video equipment closer to the launch site than the approved safe distance, when the Mercury-Redstone project failed. We were glad that everyone was far enough away that, only the rocket was harmed.

Very impressive, but my rule is, you can't call something a "model rocket" if it's bigger than an AIM-9. :p

I believe it is around 1/10th scale. The real Saturn V is 360+ feet tall.

Bruce,
You sure as heck wouldn't stand by one of our "rockets" but these are very impressive for hobbyists!

Hey what ever happened to Master Blasters? I loved that show:(.
