Managed to turn this the other day and after I saw Curt’s post this morning of his beautiful SW style hollow form, decided to do a post as evidence that I am still in the vortex!

This is a piece of the cherry that Bob Hainstock and I harvested from his good friend Jack’s acreage over in Au Train – about 20 miles east of us. Here is Bob’s thread about that outing: http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=89838

This one measures 8” in diameter and is 4 ½” high. Sanded to 320 grit and has several light coats of Minwax Wipe-On Gloss Poly. I will wait for another week or so to give the poly some time to dry and then will buff it out.

This cherry HF is going to be a gift to Jack in appreciation for all the wood that he allowed Bob and I to harvest. Hopefully, we will be asked back at some point in the future. Hope Jack and his wife like hollow forms!

As always, comments, opinions and/or critiques are welcome!

Thanks for looking!

Once the finish goes on its going to be out of this world beautiful. The form of this piece is the best part of it.

We never thought you had left the vortex;)

Nice piece Steve. I like how well you balanced the grain. I flows around the neck of the form like a necklace. The simple finish helps the form to stand out.

I really like this Steve -- I think that could be near the top of your best...

It looks very special -- all elements of this bowl appeal to me..

Makes me wish my name was Jack and you presented it to me...

Well done.

Steve, I just saw this and really like it. Should be cool to see how it darkens over time.
