Hello all,

I am looking at a used PM15 and was wondering if there are any known negatives to this planer ? He is asking 600.00 for it. He says he got it in august 2007. From the pictures it looks to be in good shape. I am going to look at it and run some BF through it this afternoon.

Thanks

Great planer Thomas. I have had mine about 10 years. The only time I had a problem was when I had to plane 3000 feet of hard maple casing stock from 13/16" to 5/8". It was running hard for quite a few hours and we need to open the motor access hatches and put a fan in front of the motor. More my fault than the planer. I have been wanting to upgrade to a Byrd head but haven't had the money to do it.

Hope that helps.

Quinn

I had one of these briefly, sold it for $750. Not an industrial machine but a lot more stout than portable planers.

A top of the line Powermatic plainer that sells for $2000 new and less than 2 years old seems like an easy decision as long as it hasn't been abused.

If this is the Powermatic PM15 plainer you're referring to for $600 then I think you should grab it before I do!

This is a very heavy duty plainer.

:D I'll keep it short and sweet - I have it, i love it, you will too, especially at that price and even more so if it has the Byrd cutter, you almost won't need to sand the milled edge.:o

Ok so I bought the planer. I will post pics shortly. I wen and looked at it the thing was flawless....only 21 months old and wasn't used the last 6. I couldn't pass it up. So now I need to find a buyer for the 735 I have sitting in my shop thats brand new :) I will post pics of that and put it in the classified section shortly. Thanks again for the advice from all who responded.

Congrats. I have an older PM15 that has never let me down.
