Blade stiffener

Got a Forrest WWII 40T standard kerf (.125") on a Powermatic 66. It came to me with a Forrest blade stiffener. Do I need it? I'm fixin' to cut a Leecraft ZCI for 45 degrees and the stiffener will interfere.

Don't think you need it especially with a standard kerf. I use the thin kerf without the stiffners ( I bought them years ago and used them for a short time)

I've found that over the last decade or so the quality of saw blades has increased to the point where stiffeners aren't really neccessary except perhaps with the cheaper blades out there.

You shouldn't need it unless there's some other problem....and even then, the stiffener is a band-aid not a cure.
