Solid Maple Hallway Entry Table

I'm a hobbyist so nothing too fancy here for this weekend project. I used one of David Mark's inlay tables as inspiration.

Solid Hard Maple with Mortise & Tenon construction.
Figure 8 connectors to fasten table top to aprons.
2 coats of Seal a Cell followed by 3 coats of Polyurethane Satin Clear Coat
Titebond III wood glue

32.5" High
40.5" Long
17.5" Wide

Tapered Legs on 2 innermost sides of legs.
Apron curves made with router table and MDF template
Delta Tenoning Jig and Hollow Chisel Mortiser used for joinery
Band Saw used to free hand cut leg tapers, then cleaned up cut edge with jointer
Table saw used to cut out 1/4" recess in aprons and top portion of legs.

Following the somewhat contemporary design of the table I went out and got some decorations for the top of the table and a picture frame.

Very nice Chris! Good job on the M&T work, and the final piece really has some nice scale and "feel."

One comment, and this may get dangerously close to meddling in your interior design arena, but I think the table would "show" much better with a larger art piece behind it with more color. It is a very nice piece and the maple would be a real compliment to some warmer tones behind it.

Take that for whatever it is worth - I ain't no interior designer!!

Thanks, I'm no interior designer either and those decorations were just a quick scramble of ideas. The picture frame doesn't even have pictures in it yet and I can always move that somewhere else.

What's funny is I've only had pictures and mirrors act as decorations so paintings should be a new thing for me to work with.
