I bought a HD 1/2 round nose and a giagantic curved 1 1/4 scrapers and the edges of the metal are damn sharp, dont side on the rest very well and cut my hands (little cuts). Has anyone ever eased the sharp side edges with a file or something?

File, diamond hone, grinding wheel, metal belt sander, all work. I don't really inderstand why they don't come rounded like skews do. They are used flat and at a 45 degree angle.

While you at it put a negative grind on the top surface by sanding it on a belt sander. Grind it back on a 2 or 3 degree angle for a 3/8 to 1/2". it will keep the cutting edge from being to grabby. Great tool for smoothing the bottom of bowls

Scott - I have used a file and also run them across the grinder - anything to get rid of the edge!
