Sharpening problems

I have an 8 inch grinder wheel and read and studied video of the proper sharpening methods. Even got plans and built a jig from one of the videos. I have two skews, neither of which I can get to sharpen on entire angled plane, thus it creates various shades of sharpening on the plane, just like photos Ive seen show it shouldnt look like..... Any suggestions? thanks

Gary - a photo or 2 would help in figuring out what is happening with your sharpening.

I use the adjustable platform that came with my grinder. Adjust the angle to match what I want on the skew, place the skew so it is flat on the platform and keeping it parallel to the grinding wheel - just sweep it across the stone a few times until you have the edge you want. Then flip the skew over to the other side and repeat. Works for me.
