I have enjoyed visiting this forum but my wife keeps urging me to post a few pictures. After some help from a couple of fine folks, I'm going to try. I've been making round things for about a year and a half after doing flat work for more than 40 years. I enjoy segmented work and have used Malcom's book as a guide. Here are a few of the things I've turned in the last few months. As you can see (I hope) I'm neither a professional turner nor photographer. The sphere is 8 inch from walnut/maple/bloodwood, the goblet is purpleheart/maple/walnut, the lidded bowl is walnut/maple and the bowl ismaple/yellowheart/bloodwood. Hope these turn out and thanks for the help.116269

Charles,
That is some very nice work!

Pretty good pictures, but a couple things to try. Move the bright center light off to one side. This will move the bright spot away from the very center and cast a shadow which can add depth to the picture. Try a seamless background made from two layers of old white sheet, ironed and starched. Later you can always buy a graduated background. Recently discovered that by holding a piece of cardboard so that it partially shades the sheet background, the illusion of a graduated bg can be created.

You are doing great for a relatively new turner.
