My latest work completed as I have grown old waiting for some new inlay supplies:rolleyes:.

An obvious Bob Hamilton inspired work (thanks Bob for your tutorials). Walnut box with embossing powder inlay and commercial inlay border, topped with ebony lid.

I have been wanting to try this form since I watched Bob's video and I am admittedly still overwhelmed with challenges; mainly inlay on irregular surfaces. Hence a few imperfections that will keep this particular work from the Smithsonian this year but hey...still shooting for the stars:D

Named Two Fairies for obvious reasons.

Please critique.

Dewey!!!!!!!!

This is most impressive! The form looks great! Beautiful coloring, love all the inlay work! I am sure Bob must be proud that he could inspire such a wonderful turning!

Like I already mentioned - I am very impressed with how far you have come in such a short period of time! Keep doing what you are doing and the Smithsonian is not such a far fetched possibility!

Keep up the good work!

Mr. Torres, I was wondering what that flash was the other day. It seems it was you flying past the rest of us slow starting turners. Very well done sir, most impressive.

Wow Dewey, this is wonderful.

I am sure that someday art students will be reading about the Dewey technique for inlay on irregular surfaces.

I'm calling shennanigans! I think this Dewey character is taking us for a ride with this "I'm new to turning, I think I'll just whip up this little piece here..."

Come to think of it Dewey, keep it up. Maybe you'll discourage some newbie with a shiny 3520 and they'll unload it cheap to me in frustration.:D

Seriously, your skills went from 0-60 like jet off a carrier.

I am the one who should be saying wow. I came home today and logged in to see all of your complements (nice surprise:D). I have some more ideas for future turnings and I really like to try and post surprises so stay tuned.

For those who think I am good at this please know that it takes me 4 to 5 times as long to turn something compared to you pros. I would have never turned a single piece if it weren't for the Creek so thanks to all of you!

Oh and you too Ken:p

Wow Dewey, like the others I am stunned. Great piece, man. I'm looking forward to seeing what you can come up with next. You never cease to amaze me (and I mean that in a good way, not the way my mom used to say it :D )

Oh, sure. Blame ME!! :D

Wow. I'm still trying to scrape my jaw up off the floor. That is incredible, Dewey. I think you've defined the difference between "artist" and "artisan".

I'm speechless!
