deal on a 6 1/8" power planer

i paid $60 for this[ he wanted $50, its a friend and hes a mechanic not a woodworker] retail is $900. it was bought in 1977 but taken care of . sounds and works like its brand new. came with extra blades. blade holder for sharpening, stone, fence and all the tools for it. my friend wanted the wood crate it came in. for $60 , i let him have it.

i found out the story behind this planer. my friend works on a winding road. he was getting ready to turn on the main road when he saw a wood crate across the road. he thought it was just a wood crate until he picked it up. the next day, he placed an add in the local paper in lost and found. the paper ran the add for 3 weeks with his # and he got no calls. its been sitting in his garage for almost 2 years. he would never use it and its like he found $60 on the side of the road.
