Here is my first natural edge bowl. It's also my first time to turn air . I managed to keep almost all the bark on it though :D. I found a couple worm holes when I got in there too. I'm pretty pleased with it for my first one. It just has Danish oil on it right now, when that dries I might put some lacquer or wipe on poly on it too. Comments and/or critiques are welcome, I'm always open to learning. Thanks for looking.

That is great for your 1st NE. Looks like nice uniform thickness. Don't ya just love walnut, at least I think that is what it is. What is the size?

Thanks, it is walnut. The measurements are 8 x 6.5 x 4 at the highest point. It's a pretty consistent 1/4" thick.

Chris you did a fine job on a difficult form! If you decide to top off the oil with poly try satin poly on it. Really gives a nice soft glow to walnut. Again, wonderful piece...Bill...

Thanks much for all the nice comments everyone! It was a lot of fun to do.:D

DaveI reverse jam-chucked it and reduced the size of the foot, then removed by hand the remaining nub left from the tail stock.

Thanks again,

Great job on that bowl!
The shape looks good, the thickness is just about right in my opinion. Thinner bowls get lots of compliments but they can be very fragile. My only comment is that you could have dressed the foot up a little on the bottom. Natural edge bowls are a lot of fun, I hope your next one comes out as well as this one did.
