When I saw the Susan Boyle video, I was instantly reminded of this one from two years ago, very similar initial response and reaction by the judges.

Dan - I also remember Paul and the shock I experienced the first time I heard him sing! Thanks for pointing out his voice for those who may have missed it!

Both Susan Boyle and Paul Potts would be too old to be on American Idol. Makes you wonder !!!!!!

I don't own a TV, so the only way I've been able to follow the recent news concerning the BGT show has been through You Tube videos. They have presented some really talented people on that show.
Paul Potts was just magnificent, and the Susan Boyle video is unbelievable, and not because of the hoopla surrounding her looks, but because she can flat out sing. Her version of Cry Me A River is awesome.

The newest video I've seen is the Saxaphone player, Julian Smith. He performs a version of Somewhere from West Side Story that is really worth listening to. Incredible finish at the end.

Maybe we need to start a BGT thread.

Sometimes I feel better for the folks who don't win but get great contracts anyway. Like this guy and his opera singing...he may not have won but he sure has a job singing opera which is really what he wanted anyway.

Good post:)

IIRC, Paul Potts did win the final competition, recorded an album that has sold over 2,000,000 copies.

Cool!

I would like to hear him and Susan B. sing a duet!
