I have modified the delta unisaw mobile base by removing the factory wheels and installing 6 double lockable 3" polyurethane wheels from Woodcraft. They raise the height of the saw by nearly 5 inches compared to the height using the delta mobile base. To lower the table saw height, I am thinking of removing the saws 5" black sub base that is on the bottom of the saw cabinet. Has anyone done this before? I am worried about affecting the rigitity of the cabinet if I remove the sub base. Any experiences with sub base removal would be appreciated.

When I bought my Unisaw in 1987, I asked the dealer to remove the sub-base. So far no problems.

IIRC, @ the time, four bolts held it to the cabinet. The dealer easily removed the sub-base as he had the "hired help" lift it up on some blocks & unbolt the sub-base.
