Has anyone tried the after market knives for the 735? I have thought about the carbide knives from infinity, but they are almost out of my price range. The stock one are doing ok, but leaves the small ridges others say theirs leaves.

I was getting the small ridge on my 735, but did not know it was a common problem. Took the blades out and one blade had a very small nick, so I switched to the unused side.

I guess the knives that come with the 735 are made of a soft steel.

I went through a couple of sets of the Dewalt knives before trying the Infinity blades (not the Carbide). The quality of cut was the same, but the Infinity set lasted me 3x longer. I finally bit the bullet and upgraded to a Byrd cutter head for the unit and haven't looked back....

I have been eyeing up the spiral head for the 735 for a while. How does it perform? I hear that you can only take off 1/32-1/16 at a time.

How difficult is it to install the spiral head?
