I turned this Cherry Bowl this morning. I used my Ellsworth Gouge for this one, and sanded it to 600. I sopped on a coat of Watco Natural, and let it sit for about 45 minutes. The bowl is still weeping oil, and in need of an occasional wipe. The Bowl is about 8 1/4" diameter and 2 1/4" tall. This Cherry was a blast to turn and finish.....................NICE stuff, for sure.
As always.........a pleasure to share my work with you, thanks for looking! :)

Nice bowl --I just can in from the lathe myself.
It hits 85 in the shop I am headed for the house.
I need to try some cherry.

Kevin, Great bowl and I love the cherry. I have to get back to turning one of these days; it's so much fun and rewarding. Beautiful bowl; keep up the nice turning.

Man, you caught the figure of that wood just right! :D Cherry is *still* one of my favorites for turning or flatwork and you've done that junk justice! :) Well done, Kev!

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement, it is deeply appreciated. It is amazing the difference between turning a roughed bowl to finish versus turning the entire blank from start to finish. MUCH easier, less work and time involved, and MUCH easier to keep focused on the task at hand. I am trying to concentrate on the form and consistant wall thickness............and a nice, even flow on both the inside and out. I think this bowl fits the criteria I had in mind. As stated before, this Cherry was WONDERFUL to turn and finish. I can see now that I need to get my mitts on all the Cherry I can! :D

Now, why didn't someone talk me into turning 25 years ago?

Thanks to Terry Quiram, I am having a BALL! :D

Stay the course, Flat is good, I will not be tempted, To spin is the dark side.

Oh @#$*& that is real nice Kevin and too tempting.
Thanks for sharing and......... the next very expensive habit.:o
