I started this solid Oak entertainment center months ago. I installed it last month and finally the LCD TV showed up so I could finish the fireplace facade. The wires had to be run behind the facade in a dado to the stereo cabinet so it couldn't even be installed until the TV and it's cords arrived from Japan.

Finally, I got to the finish stage. I used water based Satin Poly and sprayed poly for the first time using the "new to me" Preval sprayers. They are very small and cost only $3.19 at HD's. I love these sprayers, very easy to operate and I used only 5 during the entire three coat process.

So here are the pics. I will finish the door construction tonite and tomorrow and get them installed tomorrow afternoon and post the final pics. I am lucky that I finally got a client that wanted solid wood instead of ply, I sure hope they aren't the last! They liked everything so much they have hired me to redo their deck in November (we're almost booked for the rest of the year now).

The last pic shows the new high end stereo & TV equipment we installed today (a hobby of mine that might just get included in future jobs). The bracket is bolted to the studs behind the Oak with 1/2"x5" lags...rated for 250 lbs.

He bought Monster Power modules (I'd never seen them before) and one of them weighed over 80 lbs!! The sound is fantastic from the Bose 6.1 system. I have never seen a picture like the HDTV I saw today. Crystal clear doesn't cover it. I was in awe of the Doppler radar map we saw on the local channel. I sure would like on of those TV's someday.

Holy smokes, Kelly! (and I ain't referring to the fireplace, either! ) That is a "Class A" job! :D There's an EC build in the future for me and I can only hope it turns out even remotely as nice as yours did! Awesome work!

Awesome job Kelly. My hat is off to you for finishing that size cabinet with Preval sprayer. I would not tackle the finishing of a project like that without anything less then a HVLP sprayer. Once again, my hat is off to you. I have used a Preval sprayer only once and decided that a better way to go is with a detail HVLP spray gun for very small projects and a standard HVLP spray gun for large projects
.
Once again Kelly, Awesome Job that you can be proud of.

Awesome job Kelly! Of course they want you to build their deck! Maybe they have friends that also appreciate solid wood, I'm sure you'll be getting referrals after that one! :D

Beautiful job, Kelly! Major project worthy of a big, big gloat!

And yes, HDTV is something that you just have to have once you see it...we were pleased to get a notice from Comcast in our bill that they are adding a few more HD stations starting..."today", I believe. I don't watch TV much, but if it's on HD, I'm a lot more likely to be a viewer!

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I sure have enjoyed building it. For those who know a little about me, this was my first really nice stain grade project. I have done stained plywood cabinets before, but nothing on this scale. A big thanks goes out to Todd Burch for the door solution...here's how they turned out...the pictures turned out badly due to a lack of light from the window shades being closed.
