View Full Version : Osage Orange lidded box

This is from a small Osage Orange log. It's 12" tall to the top of the finial, 5.5" wide at the widest part of the log. The finial is poplar dyed black. If the finial looks like I 'tried' to copy one of Keith Burns, it's because I did.

Very pretty. Reminds me of an old time ice cream dish. Is the lid just a taper fit or is there a "ledge" that we can't see?

Curt - really nice work! Great job on the finial also! Real pretty lidded box! I really like the flow to the piece! Pretty cool!

Very nice. Does the bottom section still contain the pith or did you cut a "plug" and insert it for the stand? I'm just wondering about cracking.

Yes, the lid is just a taper fit.

And no, I didn't remove the pith. But it's from a pretty dry log so I don't think it will crack. But I've been wrong before.
