here's some old cherry logs a guy at work gave me - i'll pay him with a couple of turnings. he told me the tree has been dead for a good 5 years; i turned a winged bowl some time back from a branch of the same tree, and it has remained stable, so i hope this bunch does, too. I know it's old - the bark is very soft, and after a rain it's like a sponge - you can squeeze water from it (i'll be putting it inside this week to protect the wood). we sure do have alot of cherry trees here in virginia. snowshovel for scale. mike
