Kind of missed the shape of the big end. And yes, it has cross grain joints. Had a ring left over from one of the paralleloroids that wanted to be part of something. It's a little gift for a neighbor who collects eggs and fancies my segmented stuff. Comments welcome if you wanna.
Edit: Also missed the grain alignment on the oak ends because I was thinking about something else and not paying attention to the work at hand. Remarkably easy to convert an ok piece to a mediocre piece by a moment of inattention to what's happening now.
