I am making a Lutyens Bench out of cypress . I cut out and used a pattern bit on router table with bearing on bottom to trim cut front legs. i am now wanting to flush trim the back legs and they are 2 and 3/4 in . Pattern bit will cut 2 in . Question can I run through router table trim the leg and then used router and a flush trim bit to flush trim the 3/4 off. Sounds ok to me but am i missing something .Mike

Just keep the bearing on trimmed wood; same as the pattern. But don't push your work too hard against the bearing. Just don't leave a bearing mark. I do it all the time.

Mike,

If I understand your question correctly, I agree with Mike, it should work fine. Mind your bit rotation/feed direction to avoid chipout, though.

I do this all the time. I also often rout the first part of the stock to the pattern, remove the pattern and trim the rest with the same pattern bit raised up a bit, though this may not work for stock that thick.
