This is my first attempt at a round bottom bowl. It's Box Elder, 8 1/2 inch diamenter and 4 1/2 inches deep. The ridge (lip) of the bowl is a 3/4 inch concaved shape which is undercut to a wall thickness of 3/16 inch.

The 3/16 inch thickness is even throughout the bowl. But, looking and feeling it now, I wish I had left the bottom a little thicker. I think the additional weight would make it a little more steady.

What ya think?

Bill - I think you did a great job keeping the wall thickness at 3/16" - especially with the walls being as steep as they are! Sure is a lot of color in this piece! Very nice work! You should be happy with the results - I know I would be!
