I know this is probably more of a woodworking project, but I did use my laser for some of this and I've gotten so much great info from here I wanted to attempt to give back. :-) If the moderators feel it should be moved that's okay.

I've posted basic instructions here (http://themeckleys.com/blog/2009/01/giant-diy-cupcake-stand%22/)on how to make a 3.5' cupcake stand that can be used for weddings or other parties. The layers are routered so the fabric panels will slide in and out, so you can make different sets to match every holiday or wedding theme/color scheme. :-)

I mostly used the laser to cut the foamcore panels (until they got too big for my laser bed, then I just used a regular blade.) The rest was done with regular workshop tools.

It's pretty big, and heavy (50+ lbs?)...the top photo might be deceiving. I think it held between 200-225 cupcakes plus the top cake.

They're not real difficult to make. I've had other brides interested in buying one but the shipping would probably be a deal killer. Maybe you guys & gals can make and sell them locally! If any of you make one I would love to see photos!!
