In another thread several people warned me to pass on a used NHI-1219 and I chose to buy it anyways. Parts for new electronics will arrive tomorrow I hope and I should have the electronics hooked up this weekend.

Setting up Mach3 for the first time (demo mode) may require some help but that will be for a different forum. Anyone wishing to give me advance advice feel free to comment!

My question is about setting the Z-axis height. How would you normally set the Z height? There is a micrometer and a chip vacuum nose hood. I assume that you screw in a top loading cutter, zero the micrometer then tighten the setscrew for the cutter. Then lower the cutter using the micrometer to desired cutting depth.

If this is correct, should I lower the Z-axis assembly as far down as it will go and then set the cutter on a scrap of plastic of same thickness?

Thanks

John
