Waxing

Just finished a nightstand, two coats of stain, three coats of poly. How long should I wait before I can use furniture wax? Thank You.

Hello,
Depends on the wax.
24 hours to a week should suffice.

SC Johnson paste wax has no aromatic solvents, so a 24 hour cure should be safe.

Other waxes can contain Xylol or Toulol <--heavy armomatic solvents, so a longer cure would be required.
The side of the can should carry a warning about the presence of aromatic solvents - but - to be safe google the MSDS for the product.
While not definative as a list of ingrediants, the MSDS will list anything considered a danger or having special transportation requirements - which aromatics fall into.

I suggest running a large sample to try the wax on first before doing the real project.

FWIW - poly usually doesn't "do wax" well anyhow, so it may be to your advantage to skip it altogether.
