The fire place insert in our new home is currently black in color. I was wondering if it is ok/acceptable/stupid to paint the exterior(the portion facing my room...not outside the house) a diffrent color? The current color just does nothing for the mojo of the room......

Only if you can find high-tempurature paint designed for the purpose in a color other than black! That's not regular paint on that there insert...

Jim is right. That is high temp paint. The last I knew it came in black or
brown but it has been awhile since I have been at the local dealer.
I have a large dealer about 3 blocks away from work and would be glad to
check for you. What color you looking for?

I am looking for a creamy color....not white or tan...kinda in the middle.

I wonder if they can tint the paint......?
