I was at the woodworking show this past weekend and watched a part of the Carter demo. Impressive, of course, but for those that know, are the Carter replacement parts worth the cost? Additionally, has anyone with an 18" Jet bandsaw switched? Thanks,

Compared to the roller bearing guides, they are exceptional. I am talking about the Carter guides with the bigger wheel at the back. They are called Zephyr .

I'm using home made wood blocks. Heck of a lot cheaper and have been working great.

Don,

In my experience, Carter guides are very good.

I have alays put Cartre guides on my bandsaws but now have the new JET 18" (triangular column ) and the bearing guides that came with it are very good on their own. I have not had a bit of trouble with them after a good year of reasonably heavy use.

I put them on my former Jet 16" saw and found them disappointing. The bearings got really noisy in a hurry, and the roller feature did nothing to get rid of junk on the blade, therefore causing poor tracking. I have a Laguna now and the ceramic guides, though weird, work much better.

I have the 2000 series carter guides on my 14" delta and they are quiet and produce less friction than the stock bushings.

I'm a big fan of them.
