I used to think that Hoppes #9 would make a great men's fragrance, and gun oil on a barrel would make a great aftershave, but i think i have found a new smell i want to capture and should be easier...
I just recieved a buch of old planes i bought off ebay and one (bailey #5 patents 02 well cleaned up has this smell i need to identify).. The closest i can compare it to is old Navy ships like the Yorktown in SC. There's like a constant metal / oil smell as you walk around and thats what this plane smells like.
Can anybody tell me what it is? A special oil? I just want to go in the shop and strip down guns and planes just for the fun of it now... Not good for all the woodworking the mrs would like me to do...
