How to upload a drawing??

I can upload pictures. What I want to be able to do is make a drawing to be able to explain a question from time to time. Specificly right now I am interested in making an electrical sketch. What is the best way to do this? I suppose I could draw something on paper, scan it into the computer, then upload it that way. Is there a better form of software that you use? Can a drawing be done in Word, or one of the bundled items in MS? As you can tell my expertise on the computer is limited.

"Paint" is one of the accessories bundled with Windows that can be used to make crude drawings. IMO, almost any drawing program would be better but it's there for no extra cost..
