I am looking at getting either a zing or zing 24, but I am unsure of what laser power I should be looking into. I just want to sell the everyday items and do some pictures. What would you guys reccomend?

At 45 watts I am envious of those with more power. I often find myself cutting things at less than 20% speed.

Welcome to SMC.

I suggest you use the search function and plug in all the brands you can think of etc.

Welcome to the Creek Scott. Well I think we would all agree high power would be great, but in reality, it's not that essential. Certainly where you are concerned where you are doing everyday items, the Zing with a 25w is going to do pretty much all of it. The higher wattage machine will probably give you just more speed. It all depends on what you are going to be doing, selling and how much. If you can afford the time to wait a tad longer, go for lower, if you want it done right now, the higher power. Epilog have been very generous with the bed sizes too, the Zing 16 which has the smaller bed is 16"x12" and that is pretty big and you can do items of 4".

thanks for the information. what about the rotary attachment? Do you have to have the zing 24 for it or will it work with the zing?

Scott why don't you download the manual from the Epilog website? You don't have to own it, but all your questions and answers are there. (http://www.epiloglaser.com/zing_features.htm) From the website with a 'Coming Soon!' note. So it would appear not at the minute for the rotary.

Rotary Attachment (http://www.epiloglaser.com/zing_rotary.htm)
The Zing 24 Laser will be compatable with a Rotary Attachment! Engrave glasses, mugs, wine bottles and other cylindrical objects. So intuitive and easy to use, you can change from one glass to the next in seconds without removing the attachment from the engraver. In addition, our proprietary design provides accurate image scaling without the need to input diameter or circumference calculations.

I guess I did not notice that it said the zing 24 will be compatible with a rotary attachment. So at least that narrows it down to a 24. I have been talking to a distributor and he did not mention that. He also says he wants to talk on the phone or face to face before recommending a power level. I just think he wants to try to upsell a bigger one.

I guess depending on the price, I will get the 30W or the 40W. I did download the manual too. I thought that I had already done it, but I looked at all the flyers. I will read through that now. Thank you everyone for your advice.
