Can anyone tell the age of a PM 66 by the serial number 0066783.
Thanks in advance.

Aren't there four numbers that precede those? That would be the date code.

EDIT: My mistake-three numbers. The first four numbers are the date code-yymm. 01080661234 would have a manufacture date of August, 2001.

It is either the first two digits or the last two. 2000 or 1983. How old does it look?

I believe Richard is correct on it being a 2000. As far as I know. Powermatic always used the first number or the first 2 number to designate the year of build.

An '83 PM66 would be metallic gold. A 2000 model would be mustard yellow! My S/N is 97661624 and it's a 1997 mustard yellow PM66.

Your PM 66 is the 783 rd PM-66 built in the year 2000, IF that is the complete serial #.
