Hello,
I found a used graco 3800 procomp for $450. I have not looked at it yet, but do you think this is a good setup.

Chris,
I bought a used Graco several years ago when HVLP using a turbine was really becoming popular. I had always sprayed with a conventional gun. I wasn't very happy with the results. I spray Sherwin Williams catalyzed lacquer and the finish just didn't atomize well enough. I always felt the gun was the problem. I have since switched to a high quality HVLP conversion gun that runs off my compressed air. It still doesn't atomize like a conventional gun but is light years ahead of my old turbine. If you are allowed by the seller, run a test batch of your favorite finish through the unit and see if it suits your purpose. Hopefully, since it is a used gun, he won't mind as long as you do a super good clean up.

I have the 4900 ProComp and have sprayed SW acrylic with it. With the onboard compresser, it should do you a good job on all but the heaviest materials.
