I went 4 wheeling in Moab Utah this weekend, and found an unusual looking tree. I clipped a sample sprig to get a picture, but by the time the ride was over there wasn't too much left of it. So the description is: Looks like a small holly leaf, max .1" long, but most are .75" long. The leaf is very leather like and tough, It is a dark hunter green, and rather than laying realitively flat like holly, it has a very wavy look from lobe to lobe (think of a manta ray swimming). Moab is a desert area, and the bush is low growing and scraggley. The trunk is twisted and knarled. Anybody know what the wood might be? The holly-like leaf has me curious.
