I have a Powermatic 50A that is less than a year old but on occasion I need an eight inch jointer so I have been looking.

Saw this on Craiglist and also here in the Deals and Discounts Forum. http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=108434

Went over to look at it this morning and it followed me home(in my trailer)

It is just like described, brand new. Never had a piece of wood run through it. Never been turned on, as you can see, because he never put a plug on the end of the cord. The table doesn't have one scratch on it.

Like Stephen Edwards said in his post, he listed it for $700 and would take $650. The unit currently list for $895 plus 144 shipping for a total of $1039. http://www.grizzly.com/outlet/g0593 After a nice conversation, I gave the gentleman $600 and headed for home.

If there are any G0693 owners out there, I would appreciate your comments about this unit.

Thanks,
Jim

Great looking machine.

Some people just have all the luck, if that had been me it would have just been sold when I called.

Great grab Jim......But I'd call this a full-blown gloat....not a semi-gloat!

Are you calling it a semi-gloat 'cause it didn't come with a plug? :D:rolleyes:

I agree that is definitely a full blown gloat. Nice score.

Jim, I'm glad you scored that jointer! I'm excited about going to pick up the DP this week from the same guy!

I'm taking it, that, in this case it must be good to be a sucker.

Steve - I would have bought the drill press too if you hadn't.

I still haven't heard from anyone that owns one of these things and do they like it or not and why???? What sound I expect? Is it time to sell the Powermatic 54A?

Hey Jim,

Yes, in this case when people say," you suck", it's sort of an envious congratulations/compliment.

I'd say use your new jointer for a while. I'm sure you're going to be pleased with it. Then you can decide if want to sell your other jointer. Personally, I think you'll be very happy with the results that you get from this jointer. I have no complaints with any of my Grizzly machines and their customer service is top notch!

Jim,

Check out this thread:

http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=56824

I think it will give you some insight into the jointer that you bought. Shiraz Balolia, the president of Grizzly, discusses the manufacturing process and quality control involved in making the spiral cutter heads like the one that's on your new jointer.

By the way, it's not unusual at all for Mr Balolia to personally address specific issues and questions about Grizzly machines here at SMC. That's one aspect of their top notch customer service, IMHO.
