I got this small piece of Australian Eucalyptus burl from MacBeaths wood store. This is 5" x 3.5". The ring around the opening and the lines in the opening are both burned, the ring friction burned with a pointed piece of wood and the lines burned with a cheapo woodburning tool. It's supposed to be a southwestern type form. What do ya think?

Curt - I think it is beautiful work! Great form and absolutely beautiful wood! The burned details work as they don't compete with the wild grain patterns! Very nice work!

Curt:
I think it is a beautiful piece. I love the wood and as they say, I love what you did with it. The burning really looks good. Some day...maybe, I'm going to try the HF's.
Thanks for showing it here.

All the best.

Curt,

That's exceptional work. The burl is outstanding and your form let's the spectacular wood shine. The burned details accent the piece and draw the eye to the small opening. Wonderful!

Curt, its lovely. Good form and a bodacious piece of wood really shown off well. I really like the burned part. The ring and edge work help define the piece.

Brian,

HF stands for Hollow Form or in Curt's case it stands for "beautiful piece".

Curt that is a beautiful piece. it makes me want to get my hands on these 150+ year old eucalyptus that are growing in my grandparents neighborhood. over half of the trees have MASSIVE burls. I just dream about them every time it see the trees.
