My buddy fowarded this email to me and I thought I would share it.

-------------

It was the summer of 1980. I was 8 years old and spending the summer with
my father in Miami. My parents were divorced and they had split custody of
me and my younger sister. Like any other young boy that was a kid during
that time, Star Wars was very popular. Especially action figures. I had
alot of them. So did Mike the kid that lived next door. That was pretty
much how the summer was spent fishing in the lake and playing Star Wars.
While we were out playing one day we were throwing our figures in the air.
I remember it like it was yesterday. My only StormTrooper got stuck up high
in the tree. I was on my way up the tree to get and the weather was getting
bad. It was starting to rain and my father made me go inside the house. I
ended up going home to my mothers house in Ft.Lauderdale shortly after that
and forgot all about the lost StormTrooper.

A couple of weeks ago my Aunt Brenda called me up and asked when would I be
coming to see her. It had been a long time since she saw me and my family.
We took a ride down to Miami which is about an hour away. Pulling up to the
yard I noticed the big tree in the front yard was gone. I didn't bother to
ask about it. While over dinner she gave me this lost toy from my past.

The tree had grown around my StormTrooper over the course of 24 years.

Cool pix/story.

Mark: any chance your fallout shelter might also be known as your workshop?

Great story, Ken. And a nice piece of wood to boot. Maybe you can get creative and incorporate it into an upcoming project, keeping the figure intact of course. Perhaps a lampbase or pedestal for a small glass-top table.

Thanks for the great story.
