What's the best way to remove acrylic residue? (I'm betting acetone.)

Acetone pretty much removes all types of adhesives and plastic residues. It is worth a shot if you have some (and if you don't have any, get some...handy stuff).

While surfing looking for confirmation that acetone would remove the acrylic residue or a warning that acetone should not be used for that purpose, I ran accross this:

Now that my local plastic vendor wants $16 for a pint of Weld-On 3 this idea is tempting. (Of course, acrylic isn't getting any cheaper either so ruining a project by not using the proper cement is probably "pound foolish.")
