All,
Since you all helped out earlier, http://sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=106845, I hope you can help me on my next dilemma. I have posted over at the Old Wood Working Machines forum, http://owwm.org/viewtopic.php?t=53300&highlight=, but have had no luck yet.

I have found out that my Driver Line lathe, model L30, has a 5/8"x18tpi spindle. I can only find parts to fit either 3/4"x16 or 1"x8. So now I come to the issue. If I want to use it for pens I need to have a mandrel to fit. So I am looking to see if anyone has had a similar issue and what was done to fix it? My only thought is to have a bushing milled to the size/thread I need.

Thanks

Matt, Does it have a morse taper in the headstock? If so you can get a mandrel that will work, if not one can be made to fit the threads on you machine. You could also get an adapter that woul bring the 5/8 threads to 3/4 or 1". I have made mandrels wuth different threads so it is not a problem. Check my old posts and you will find a post about it and pics.

Matt, Does it have a morse taper in the headstock? No it doesn't. I cannot repost an uploaded attachment for some reason so please check the link in my 1st post to see what I have.

If so you can get a mandrel that will work, if not one can be made to fit the threads on you machine. Didn't think of this. How much $$$$ will it be to have done?

You could also get an adapter that woul bring the 5/8 threads to 3/4 or 1". I have been looking but haven't found anything yet.

I have made mandrels wuth different threads so it is not a problem. Check my old posts and you will find a post about it and pics. I checked it out. That is pretty good work. Are you making them on order?;)

Thanks Jeff.
