Here are the pictures of the completed office project that I promised to post. I recently finished the lateral file cabinets and uppers cabnets a few months ago. The project has been completed for a while but I am just getting around to posting the pics.

Materials Used:
Bubinga Veneer and Solid Wood
Maple Solid and Maple Plywood
Corian - Subtops and Rear Tops
Granite - Upper Tops

I hope Chris and Tyler approve.

Hi Mike,

Just wanted to say fantasic job! I also noticed the veneer you used which is very similar to the stuff I picked up recently. While I was told it was Sapele, it sure didn't look like any Sapele I had seen but looks just like your Bubinga. Interestingly, my veneer will be appearing in the next issue of the magazine - great looking stuff!

Again, congrats on a great job.

Lean, mean and clean, Mike! :D Exquisite work throughout! I'm usually not one for real shiny finishes, but it really looks "to home" in that environment. Well done! You should be proud of the whole ensemble!

Guys, thank you very much for all the kind words.

As with all of us here, I really enjoy the opportunity to continue to hone my skills and try new things. Outside of my kitchen, this was one of my biggest project to date.

My next big one is going to be figuring a way to talk the LOML to letting me build a big shop so I can move out of the 2-car garage.

Mike -- Stunning work. Is that your office, or did you do it for someone else? In any event, it is work that will knock people's socks off.

What an exquisite piece! Very inspiring. What did you use for the finish if you don't mind me asking? Thanks!

Mike :) :D

Mike: The finish I used is Lacquer. For this project, I used Sherwin Williams Pre-Cat Lacquer (Gloss) It is self sealing so you don't need a sanding sealer. I usually thin the first two coats a little more than the fiinal coat. It is a little harder to work with than the stadard Nitro-Lacquer but it is more durable.

Roger, yes I use a vacuum press for my veneer work. It is really the only way to go if you get into veneering. They work great. I have an air powered type that works off my air compressor.
