Tonight I tried a new method of applying a CA finish to my turned pens. I read this in another forum so I am not taking credit for this but didn't know if anyone tried this before. I sand the blank down through the grits to 600. Then wipe off the blank with mineral spirits. After that I apply MS on a paper towel then thick CA with the lathe at 800rpm. Wipe across the blank like you would apply the BLO/CA finish until you get that oh so familiar smell :o...once cured I get a piece of brown paper bag and rub across the blank. Then start over with the MS/CA...and so on...once you apply the desired coats of CA...I finish with EEE...:eek:...poof done...
