Hey everyone..hope someone here can help. I am taking apart my planer as it was very badly rusted when I got it. I seem to remember an online source where someone listed the instructions for taking it completely apart, or at least removing the cutterhead. Does anyone know where I can find something like this? The manual does not go that far.

Thanks, Dan

Here is a breakdown for the DC33, which is similar:

Thanks, that helps some, but mine is a bit different. I got it most of the way apart, but I am having a time trying to figure out how to remove the cutterhead from the gear box. I have the gear box apart and the drive gear off the end of the shaft. Does the shaft just slide out of the bearing? I have tapped on it pretty hard with no luck.

The four columns are very rusty and I will need to remove it and polish them. The the top of the inside casting seems pretty clean. I would completely disassemble it, but it seems that getting it completely lined up (parallel to the bed) might be somewhat difficult. Is it easy enough to make it worth while?

Thanks, Dan

As a side note, if you have a digital camera take lots of pictures while you are taking it apart. Even if you have a schematic or a diagram pictures can help quite a bit while putting things back together.

Good Luck with your teardown.

Maybe you can take something from here-

Might as well put a shelix head in there while you are at it.

I can't answer your exact question but this may help you get the cutterhead out. The is to install a head in a standard 4 post planer but the removal process should be very similar to your machine.
