I have used the Pentel pencil for years. After learning a bit about turnings pens I decided to see if I could add a little class to the old standby. From the left, figured Maple, unknown burl, Desert Ironwood, figured Maple, Dymondwood, Tulipwood, fake Turquoise, Birds Eye Maple, fake Malachite, Dymondwood.

George,
Those are beauties. I do a lot of these and hand them out to my architect friends. Where did you find the 2-stage bit?

Ted and Bill,

I ordered the stepped bit from Fuller using specifications I found on the IAP forum, however there are currently two IAP members offering the stepped bits and Pentel mandrels.

Although it's possible to make the pencils without these two items, It's a lot easier with them.
