I turned on my new (and first) bandsaw this afternoon. First I carefully followed all the instructions for alignment of just about everything. Got everything aligned. Then the moment of truth. Plugged it in, turned the key to "ON", and pushed the start button. http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowconfused.gif Nothing! No click, no noise, absolutely nothing. So I checked for 240V - good. I opened all the electrical panels on the bandsaw and could see nothing obvious. What the h@#& is going on? So finally in desperation I called the Grizzly support line. After discussing this and that with the tech support the tech asked me if I had turned the red off switch to the right. Huh? Well no. So I turned it to the right and it popped out with the spring pressure. That was encouraging. So I turned the switch to the ON position, pushed the green start button and Voila. Music to my ears. Motor running, blade turning, no strange noises. http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/slap.gifAfter thanking the tech, and apologizing for my ignorance, I started testing the beast. I didn't use the blade that came with the saw. I had installed a Timberwolf 1" 3TPI blade. I will mostly be resawing hardwood, burls and exotics. http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowsmile.gifI resawed some Brazilian Rosewood (7"), walnut burl (8") and white Oak (10"). Just to even up the slabs I made some fine cuts along one side. Then I cut various slices to just over 3/8". I use these for jewelry box tops. Everything cut beautifully. No wandering, no bows in the cuts, the top and botton thicknesses were the same. What a joy. Previously I had been doing this by handsaw. A real chore and never as straight as I want. Thus lots of handplaning to get everything right.

Now I need to order a dust Collector (Delta), a tablesaw (Powermatic) and a jointer/planer combo (Grizzly). I am going broke but I am having doing so.

Good Luck with the Griz! I also have a one year old GO514X2 I have been very happy with it.
Another quirk about this bandsaw is the foot brake . I thought that you could use it all the time to stop the blade. I was wrong ,if you use it you have to reset a small switch inside the cabnite behind the foot peddle.

It has cut everything I have asked it to very happy with it! George
