I know I know, everyone will tell me go with an 8" jointer, but this is all I can afford right now and I want to be making some sawdust rather than wait for who-knows-how-long. So I am curious if there are any features that stick out making one better than the other?? The Grizzly G0452 6" jointer or the Rigid?

I just got the GO452 recently and used the MS cashback. It is great. Obviously I would rather have an 8" or bigger but I don't have the room. The grizzly offered the best bang for the buck for me. Unless the BORG has the Rigid on sale the Grizzly is cheaper, especially using the cashback.

I have the G0604X. Some similar features on the G0452 vs the Ridgid, if it's the one I just saw on the Ridgid website, that I think are worthy of consideration are:

G0452 has:

Built in mobile base
Conveniently located large paddle switch above the bed
5" tall fence
46" vs 45" bed length

Best wishes on your choice.

I have had the Rigid jointer for a few years and thinks its great. No problems at all and it runs very smooth and quiet. Very easy to to adjust with the crank wheel on both sides of the table too. I recommend it to anybody on a budget for sure.

Make sure you don't miss any used options. Sometimes those are best. I picked up a used Jet 6" for $300 buck and have loved it.

I have the G0452 also purchased via CashBack. I'm not a heavy user of this jointer but it has done everything I've asked and done it well. I like the ability to move it easily as I still haven't found it's spot. Gets moved a lot but it's no harder then moving a shopping cart.
