OK ?? I'll ask... Whats a Kindle?

Sounds like a name for a handle you would use the pick up a relative?

Is this that new electronic book thingy? I looked at one last week. Looked to be some kind of lightweight plastic - could be PVC?

Glad someone asked! I was wondering the same thing but didn't want to seem daft if it was something we all should know lol :D

It has a brushed aluminum look to the back of it looks like a great spot to engrave. Amazon.com/Kindle

The Kindle 2.0's back is metallic. I'm not sure about the first version of the Kindle. You would need to probably use Cermark to mark the back of the case. Based on the price of the Kindle alone would make me nervous to engrave.

"We used 80% power and 100% speed on our Epliog 35W laser"

As for the original, I have no idea.

My daughter has had one for over a year. She's such a nerd that she even named it.

Most of the college kids getting these are buying covers other than what comes with it. She has a red leather cover on hers. It's a neat little gadget. She downloads a lot of her textbooks and saves money.

Never heard of it until this thread either... But the Time magazine has an advertisement exlaining the "new Aluminimum back" has advantages, so that would confirm for me that it's actually aluminimum - I mean - if it's in Time magazine it has to be true right?!?!

I have the original Kindle and the back is plastic with a silicone mat covering most of it which is engraved already like a rubber stamp (for grip, I suppose).
