Our club held an event yesterday and Mike came to someone's shop for7 hours. The $35 per person was worth it. Really down to earth guy and his many skills are amazing. He showed production turning (a spinning top (not the ones that you spin with your fingers this one used a string) and door stops) and 2 , hollow forms, steam bending, ladles, spatula, turned and burned baseball (that was truly amazing skill between centers only no rechucking) Carved feet on a bowl (and wet sanding green wood), bottle stoppers and chatter work, he went over how he does his acrylics on his piece, his curved boxes, and i'm sure i've missed some of it. He ran his demo 40 minutes late because there was still interest. While he was passing around pieces, one of the members accidentally dropped one of his fish, it didn't break but he said that it's just wood and be remade, even if it did break he wouldn't have been mad. Real down to earth guy. At the next club meeting they are pulling names from the 20 of us there to take home his demo pieces. If you have a chance to see Mike I highly recommend it. (pics to follow as I get them from other club members)

I've never heard of the guy as I'm still diving into the world of turning but that sounds great! Nice job and hopefully you'll get some of the turnings he made :)

Andrew - thanks for the links! Sounds like one heck of a great demo! Hope you paid attention!! That sure was a lot of subjects to cover in so short of a time! Hope you are lucky enough to win one of the demo pieces! Would make for a great memento and also serve as an incentive to keep working on your turning skills! Glad you had the opportunity to attend the demo! Looking forward to the photos!

Hosaluk was featured in the new book "New Masters of Woodturning". He's cutting edge for sure. Extremely innovative. What a great opportunity!

I attended his demonstration a few years back that was sponsered by the San Antonio turning club and it was truly worth the trip from Corpus. I would pay again to see him turn.
