Yup----turned on a lathe---King Size Bed
I love building them but it just takes so much time there is very little profit in it. I only make a couple of these a year.
Just thought you folks might like to see something different.
Wood is Eastern Red Cedar

Looks really cool Gary! Love the color of the cedar! Appreciate seeing a variation from the normal turned items! Thanks!

Thanks Steve-- there are very few things around here that are normal:D

Gary, how long is the bed on your lathe? It would be nice to see a picture of the finished bed. I can do a short doll bed on my 1624, but it looks like I would need at least 3 bed extentions and maybe 4 on my lathe to get the length your turning!

Check his web site. He has a pic of the 4224 Powermatic with extension. Nice work and shop Max. John

I'd like to see it assembled. I love the raw wood form.

Good job!

I will post a pic of the bed when I get done. I am wanting to catch a sunny day and I will set it up outside and take some pics. Remember ---this is all done by hand which includes pealing the bark.
Our showroom is getting crowded---which is a good thing with show season coming. I still have 6 more pieces to turn---the spindles. Hope to do that in a day.
If you want to see what the beds look like there are a couple on our web site.
Thanks

Skip---I had the extension built---I can mount 8 foot 6 inchs between centers. I am guessing this brings the weight up to about 1300lbs for the entire set-up.

Thanks Gary, that is one LO____NG bed lathe!! I checked out your web site, very nice. Looks like a wonderful shop. Next time I'm in KY, I'll try and stop by. Our oldest boy and his wife live in Elizabethtown and his wife's Mom lives in Greensburg. Looks like you're pretty close to them.

Skip we are 60 miles from E-town and 45 minutes from Greensburg.
This time of the year we are here most of the time.

Great job Gary. You need to raise your price so you have more of an incentive to make them! I'm to old to be lifting stuff like that :D Besides, I would have to put an extension on my shop if my bed was that long

Heck Anthony the way sales are, I may be hunting a job soon.
We have three shows in the next 4 weeks-----I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Great looking bed. You don't see that everyday. I can't wait to see it assembled.
